National Mineral Award for 2008

The Ministry of Mines has declared the winners of National Mineral Award 2008. Seventeen eminent Geoscientists, Engineers and Mining Technologists have been chosen for the awards. Professor Sisir Kumar Sen has been honoured with the National Mineral Award for Excellence 2008.

The National Mineral Award is a prestigious scheme of Ministry of Mines that aims at promoting all around excellence in geo-science in the country. Nominations for the awards are invited every year. There are 19 awards in different field of geosciences carrying an award money of Rs. 1 lakh each and one Award of Excellence for lifetime contributions in geosciences carrying an award money of Rs. 3 lakhs. The selection of the awardees is done by Award Making Authority, chaired by the Secretary, Ministry of Mines.
