Chakravarti Rajagopalachari (10 December 1878 – 25 December 1972), casually called Rajaji or C.R., was an Indian notary, sovereignty protester, politician, author and statesman. Rajagopalachari was the previous Governor-General of India. He also served as manager of the Indian National Congress, Premier of the Madras government, Governor of West Bengal, Minister for Home Affairs of the Indian Union and Chief Minister of Madras state. Rajagopalachari founded the Swatantra revelry and was one of the primary recipients of India’s uppermost civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. He fervently opposite the use of nuclear armaments and was an advocate of globe quiet and disarmament. Through his lifetime, he also acquired the pet name ‘Mango of Salem’.

Rajagopalachari was born in the town of Thorapalli in the Salem district of the Madras Presidency and educated at Central College, Bangalore, and Presidency College, Madras. In 1959, he reconciled from the Indian National Congress and founded the Swatantra Party, which stood alongside the Congress in the 1962, 1967 and 1972 elections.
