Aravind Adiga was born in Chennai (previously known as ‘Madras’). With one elder brother, Anand Adiga as sibling, Aravind was the second child to Dr. K. Madhava Adiga and Mrs. Usha Adiga. He was brought up in Mangalore, a city in the state of Karnataka(South India). He got his studies done in Sydney(Australia) and then later in 1997, graduated from the stream of English Literature from Columbia College in Columbia University, New York. He was awarded with an academic title of salutatorian while he graduated in the same year. He also had his parts of his studies from Magdalen College in Oxford where he found ‘Hermione Lee’ as one of his tutors.
His career began as a financial journalist and the opportunity brought him face to face interviewing Donald Trump. He also worked as correspondent for South Asia when he was hired by TIME, after which he went into the time of freelance and started writing his own pieces of Literature and came up with The White Tiger.
His first novel, The White Tiger, won the Man Booker Prize for fiction in 2008. The White Tiger depicted the demarcation of the growing modern Indian economy and a person from irksome rural poverty. He was one of the four writers who were born in India to bag the Man Booker Prize after Salman Rushdie, Arundhati Roy and Kiran Desai.
